The aim? Facilitate the circulation of re-used building components

1 – Harmonizing diagnostic methods in Europe:
The partners in the consortium have co-authored a guide to auditing the materials in a building to be deconstructed or rehabilitated. They are all involved in the reuse of building materials, and are already involved in resource diagnostics.

2 – 36 material sheets:
These describe the resources that make up the building and that can be integrated into a re-use strategy.
They contain all the information needed for this strategy: description of the material in place, recommendations for its recovery, different applications and possible fields of use, characteristics and suitability for use with regard to the European standard, description of the sector, indicative economic estimate and estimate of its carbon impact.

3 – Feedback from the field:
Over the course of the project, 37 pilot operations on construction projects were carried out by the partners. The aim was to encourage the re-use and recycling of building materials. And to encourage the adoption of circular economy reflexes and familiarization with newly-developed tools and methods.
Result: 140 tonnes of building materials recovered and 186 tonnes reused in construction and renovation projects throughout north-western Europe.
