️4 scenarios were presented at the end of January by L’ADEME and the CSTB to anticipate the possible futures of the building and real estate industries in 2050.
The event provided an opportunity for players in the construction and real estate industries to share their knowledge on the following questions: What will France’s buildings look like by 2050? To what extent will they be able to support human activities? Will the sectors have adapted to the new challenges?
4 scenarios result, taking into account 22 key factors for rebalancing:
“- Difficult to do everything, or the difficulty for players to do everything simultaneously, in the face of major transitions. As a result, the building stock is evolving in contrasting ways, with some buildings performing well, but also a large number that are still poorly adapted.
Building as a service: players adapt quickly to the challenges of ecological and demographic transition. Buildings are undergoing a profound transformation, with the city’s structures conceived as “services” available to occupants.
– Rebalancing, in favor of suburban areas, medium-sized towns and rural areas. Preserving the environment and anticipating systemic crises are becoming priorities.
– Shortages, or the impact of systemic crises (climate, economic, health) on the operating capacities of stakeholders (households, businesses, public authorities…).”
This approach will be pursued through 3 axes:
➡️ “Support for players wishing to use the tools created as part of the approach, to fuel strategic thinking within their organization.
➡️ Data enrichment and cross-referencing, for even more robust and easily adaptable scenarios, depending on the activity.
➡️ The launch of a complementary collective initiative, entitled “Imagining building and real estate in the age of the circular economy”.
