This month we welcome Samuel Rémy, speaking to Carbon Saver.
Samuel is an architect and co-founder of Villette Makerz. It’s a collaborative design and manufacturing laboratory – fablab – and a cultural space located in the Parc de la Villette. A third place for experimentation and transmission, it is aimed at all those who want to link ideas and materials by combining the technologies of contemporary creation with traditional craftsmanship. During the week, professionals (120 structures per year) experiment, exchange ideas and make things. It’s also home to Carbon Saver.
Samuel Rémy presents Villette Makerz and their professional training courses, which cover craft skills, digital tools and the circular economy.
The “Circular Designer” course, supported for 3 years by the City of Paris and Pôle Emploi as part of Paris Fabrik, trains jobseekers in 3 skill blocks: “leading Industrial and Territorial Ecology initiatives”, “building circular business models and supporting eco-design”, “identifying outlets and designing suitable processes for materials to be recycled”. All learner application projects are carried out in real-life situations with the players involved.
The second course, ” Valoriste polyvalent “, is designed to address the largest pool of jobs in the circular economy, with training that requires no technical prerequisites. The multi-skilled Valorist takes part in the valorization of the main urban resources: food, consumer goods, building and public works, and in raising public awareness. This apprenticeship enables students to acquire professional skills in four circular economy professions: composter guide, eco-animator, deconstructor and reconditioner.
